Transplant Week Nearly Here
With Transplant Week just a week away
here is an update on our plans:
Celebrities now secured to support Transplant Week include: David Harewood, Beth Tweddle, Ruth Langsford, Wil Johnson, Katie Piper, Dr Hilary Jones, Dr Chris Steele and Dr Ellie Cannon. Photo shoots of the celebrities are underway, and the resulting images will be used for PR purposes and across our digital and social media channels.
Additional celebrities are also being approached to provide social media support during the Week, and this list is still to be finalised.
Transplant Week website
The refreshed Transplant Week website will go live this week and will feature the online gallery page featuring images uploaded by the public via #spellitout which is already being promoted via our social media channels. The site will also include a downloadable action pack of printable and online assets for those who wish to campaign during the Week.
As well as plenty ofsocial media assets and infographics being designed for the Week, a Facebook tool which will allow users to post their own organ donation decisions within pre-photographed scenarios will also be launched.
Transplant Week stands will now be featured in 14 Boots stores, with a further 86 stores having TW leaflets available. The stands will be staffed by our Specialist Nurses and by volunteers - many thanks to those organisations who have helped with this. Boots has also agreed to provide social media support during the Week, the details of which are still to be confirmed.
A further partner, KORE, is hosting an event on 8 July during which Carlise Cathedral will be wrapped in an organ donation ribbon. Our specialist nurses will be attending the event.
20 MPs have now accepted an invitation to the event at the House of Commons on 9 July. Jane Ellison will also be attending, as will two of our specialist nurses, and two donor families.
